Tabata Timer Tutorial
What is Tabata Interval Training?
Tabatas are a method of interval training where you alternate 20 seconds of exercise with 10 seconds of rest done for eight cycles in this fashion.
You can read all about tabatas here: tabata-weight-blast-workouts
The first thing to do is make sure the settings are correct if they’re not defaulted to the standard numbers. Traditional Tabatas are:
- 8 sets
- 20 seconds exercise
- 10 seconds rest
- That equals one full Tabata cycle.
In the timer, you can select in the top right of the box the “timer settings” here:
In the settings you can edit the interval timings:
These buttons below are:
- Start/stop the timer
- Step back in the sequence
- Skip to next in sequence
- Reset timer
The different stages are:
- Prepare = so you can put your phone or device down before the exercise starts
- Exercise = the time that you’ll perform the exercise
- Rest = the time interval that you’ll rest between exercise sets
- Recovery = the rest interval between cycles
