Growing up, I was always the skinny, small kid out of all my friends. I graduated high school weighing 135 pounds and standing 5’10”. Just like most guys, I would see someone in shape and wish I could look like them, but never putting in any effort.
Fast forward to 2008, when I married my best friend, my wife Erin. Erin and I have been together since 1995 – 22 years now. In 2009, our first child was born.
My diet then was crap. I ate out breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Continuing this lifestyle, I quickly shot up to 208 pounds and probably 25 percent+ body fat by 2012. By this point, my oldest daughter, now 3 years old, was becoming more active and I was struggling to keep up. I knew I had to make a change in my life.
So I started eating healthier foods and working out intermittently. From 2012 to 2014, I lost about 43 pounds. I had lost the weight I wanted, down to 165 pounds, but my physique looked far from what I had imagined, which surprised me considering the time I spent in the gym. I knew there had to be a better way – a straightforward, scientific approach to help me reach my goals. This is when I found Pro JYM in late 2014 and the journey began…
In the first 18 months of taking the gym serious, I made some gains, but not enough. My brother Joshua was preaching about macros and diet to me, but I didn’t listen to him because I didn’t understand. I just knew I should have been further along than I was. This is when my saving grace came in and I discovered the JYM Army!
I found the JYM Army in the summer of 2016, and it has been by far the best thing that has happened to me — as far as the gym goes, of course! I lurked and stalked the Facebook page for the longest time. I finally got the nerve to start commenting and asking questions. I started watching Jim's videos and quickly learned about everything, including macros (I should have listened to my brother Joshua — ha ha).
My very first program was HIIT 100, which I loved. I did five weeks of the 5, 3, 2 Strength Program before I switched over to Daily Grind. The programs definitely switch it up and keep your body on its toes!
I currently weigh 192 pounds with around 13 to 15 percent body fat. I take Pre JYM, Pro JYM, Post JYM (both of them), ZMA JYM, Vita JYM, Shred JYM, Alpha JYM, and Omega JYM. I’ve had more results in the last six months of doing Jim’s programs, following his food plans, and taking proper supplements than I did on my own in two years. My goal is to do a fitness show before I turn 40 and get under 10 percent body fat.
I tell everyone who will listen about JYM Supplement Science. All I want to do is pay it forward. I have met some amazing people from the JYM Army – Steve, Kendra, Joana, Steven, Will, Debbie, Freddie, Justin K, Dan J, Chris K, Alisa, Shane, and Loc – and this is just naming a few of the people who help motivate me every day.
I want to thank my wife for putting up with my crazy schedule between work and the gym. She knows what this means to me — and she actually has a better transformation than I do! I want to thank Jim Stoppani; without him and his selflessness, none of this would even be possible. Thank you to my mentor Steve Ngo for all the late nights on the phone.
I hope my story reaches and encourages at least one person to change his or her life for the better. We only have one life to live, and we need to make the most of it. I can't wait to see what the next 36 months of Jim’s programs and JYM products will do for my life physically, because mentally it has given me a renewed zest for life and I truly feel like a new man. Just want to say thanks to Jim again — you are a true legend, sir, and you help change the lives of millions of people. I am forever grateful.
As always, stay JYM Army strong and #GSD.
