Clearing Up the Citrulline Confusion
Citrulline Malate is still the form of citrulline found in ALL Pre JYM products, despite a confusing listing on Canadian labels.
Citrulline Malate is still the form of citrulline found in ALL Pre JYM products, despite a confusing listing on Canadian labels.
Astute and knowledgable Canadian Pre JYM users have noticed a discrepency on their product labels with regard to the ingredient citrulline.
As many of you know, I'm partial to the Citrulline Malate form versus l-citrulline. I explained my reasoning a while ago in this video on JimStoppani.com: L-Citrulline vs. Citrulline Malate Video.
And yet, if you're in Canada and you buy a container of Pre JYM, what will you see listed on the front of the label? This: 4g l-citrulline.
Here's a picture of it:
For reference, here's what the front of the Pre JYM label looks like in the United States:
You can see the difference: 4g l-citrulline (Canada) vs. 6g Citrulline Malate (USA).
On the Supplement Facts ("Medicinal Ingredients") panel of Pre JYM labels in Canada, here's what you'll see:
Notice that "Citrulline Malate" is listed here, but only in paranthesis. And it still lists the 4-gram dose. This compared to the non-Canadian Supplement Facts panel, which lists 6 grams of Citrulline Malate:
Let me clear up the confusion here...
The Canadian version is the EXACT SAME Pre JYM formula as all other versions and does in fact contain 6 grams of Citrulline Malate.
As you can see above, Citrulline Malate is listed on the Canadian supplement facts panel. However, due to regulatory issues with supplement labels in Canada, I was instructed to list out only the l-citrulline portion of Citrulline Malate.
Remember, Citrulline Malate is composed of l-citrulline and malic acid. At a 2:1 ratio, as my Citrulline Malate is, 6 grams of Citrulline Malate yields 4 grams of l-citrulline and 2 grams of malic acid.
I'm currently working with the regulatory commission in Canada to be able to list it as it normally is in the United States – as 6 grams of Citrulline Malate. Until then, the labels in Canada will list 4 grams of l-citrulline. But again, the product is the same and does in fact contain 6 grams of Citrulline Malate.
I hope this helps you understand the discrepency between the United States and Canadian Pre JYM labels.
Don't worry, my Pre JYM formula hasn't changed in the least. Still the same ingredients, in the same forms, and at the same doses as always. And delivering the same great results!
